Here’s a brief summary of Wellspring's prayer needs at present:
Music at the Methodist
Conference
We would value your
prayers for the period we are leading the music at the Methodist Conference (7th
- 12th July). Particularly:
Richard Williamson's sabbatical
Richard
believes that God has been speaking to him in significant ways recently and,
having now reached the age of 50, believes God is asking him to look seriously
again at his life,
calling and ministry. As a result, Richard began a sabbatical of at least 6
months starting at the end of April this year. Wellspring’s Advisory Board
feel this is an important step for Richard to take. This is not a cessation of
ministry, but a much needed refreshment.
Please pray for Richard (& Susan) as he takes this important step.
New paths
In the last year or two, a number of people in Wellspring have felt increasingly called to embrace newer ‘emerging church’ models - reaching out to the world with creative forms of worship and evangelism (such as the ‘Resonance’ event in Manchester Cathedral
in 2004). We feel that Wellspring’s ministry is well placed to model such new forms and believe it is right to be much more proactive in this area.
Alongside this, many in Wellspring continue to see the need to offer good models of worship to the existing church – either in teaching weekends or leading worship at various events (as well as with our recordings and concerts).
Mentoring
We also feel it is important to be mentoring/training the next generation of young musicians and have been working alongside Christians at the Royal Northern College of Music
and at Chethams School of Music to encourage them to explore ways they can use their gifts in ministry.
Please pray
• That we would know God’s heart as we re-evaluate these things and look for new opportunities to minister in more relevant ways to a needy world.
• That we would be wise in what we agree to take on as a group.
• That we would gave more opportunities to teach & train the next generation of musicians.
• That we would know God’s presence and leading as we move forward together.

Wellspring Ensemble concerts

Please pray:
1. For our advance planning for all our forthcoming concerts
2. That we would find the right sources for publicising these concerts - press, radio/TV, local events diaries etc.
3. For freshness as we listen to the Lord concerning these concerts and about the ministry of the Ensemble in general.
4. For safe travel for those of us travelling long distances
5. For God to be with us as we play in each of these concerts
6. For those who come (especially those who aren't Christians) that they would be touched by the love of God during the evenings
7. That God would provide the
finances necessary to maintain the concert series we have in Poynton &
Prestwich in
terms of direct sponsorship.
See our diary page for more specific details about future concerts.
More details of all of the above in our current prayer letter.
Please pray for Wellspring's Leadership Team and our Advisory Council as we seek the Lord and work through future directions for Wellspring.
Prayer summary
Please also pray
for the dates we have coming up in the next year - see our Diary page for more details.
